The SNCF took over 27 locomotives of the series T18 from the Reichs Railways situated in Elsass-Lothringen. They were built between 1915 and 1918 by the Vulcan Works. The locomotives were stationed in Straßburg, Haguenau, Sélestat, Colmar and Mulhouse. Due to the respectable top speed of 100 km/h, the large water reservoir and the much praised smooth running features, the locomotives were mainly used in the fast commuter traffic. The last 232 TC stopped operating for the SNCF and has quit the day to day service in 1966.
