Service: Passenger trains and stopping trains.Model: Reissue model in chromium oxid green livery, with modified running numbers of the Epoch IV. Equipped for interior lighting. Overall length: 264 m.. Auxiliary luggage wagon MD4i-50 After the resurrection of a powerful rail system, the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) was short everywhere on modern locomotives and wagons; also the luggage wagons were rare despite that they were still used quite often. This destitute situation was turned around by refitting goods wagons into auxiliary luggage wagons and put them in the lineup of express and stopping trains. A well known and successful example is the MD4i-50 with four axels which was put into service in 1950. Because of its length the loading capacity is very big and the swan neck bogie proofed to be all right even at higher speeds. The striking exterior skin was made of wood with iron braces and windows and doors were fitted into it. In 1968 and with the final inscription of all the Bundesbahn building series it became type MD 991 without much changing its use. Many pictures of the "Bügelfalten 110er" (“Crease 110”) proof that. During the 1970s the use of luggage wagons diminished and the auxiliary luggage wagon was put to work for less important services such as construction wagon or trailer painted in a shining yellow. The last auxiliary luggage wagon of the original type MD4i-50 which left a distinctive mark on the development of the Bundesbahn was finally decommissioned 1989 from active service of the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB).
